1980 BMW M1 Coupe | Uncrate, #BMW #Coupe #Uncrate
BMW’s desire to compete with fellow German rivals in sports car racing led to the M1, a joint development between Lamborghini and BMW. With styling by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign, the M1 rolled out in 1978 as BMW’s first — and only — supercar. Only 458 units were produced, with 400 being required for homologation requirements, making the car ultra-rare. This 1980 BMW is immaculate inside and out, with a black over grey leather and checked cloth interior. This M1 still has its factory mid-mounted 274 horsepower, 3.5-liter inline-six, and ZF five-speed transmission and is chassis no. 292, sold new in 1980 in the UK. The car has since made it to the US, where it’s currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer, having covered just over 30,000 miles — with someone having enjoyed this car over the last 42 years.
