In 1977, the video game industry was still in its infancy. Datsun had a moment of prescience that year, tying a limited edition of its 280Z sports car in with an arcade video game — resulting in the 280Z ZZZAP Edition and arcade cabinet of the same name. While the game itself hasn’t aged terribly well, the 280Z ZZZAP Edition has. 1,000 examples were made, wearing Code 411 Sunburst Yellow paint with classic ’70s graphics on the sides and hood, rear window louvers, and a single black racing stripe trimmed in red. The car pictured here is one of the best of those remaining, with period-correct Ansen mag wheels and a Pioneer cassette player. The car goes to auction at Mecum’s August 2023 event in Monterey, California.
