Michael Jordan played dozens of memorable games throughout his career. Among his Finals performances the “Flu Game” is perhaps the most memorable. Game 5 of the 1997 Finals saw His Airness woozy, dehydrated, and, in one iconic moment, leaning heavily on Scottie Pippen for support. Jordan nevertheless found a way to win, scoring 38 points and racking up 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals, catapulting his Bulls to a second straight championship and his fifth overall. He signed the shoes he wore that game — black and red Air Jordan 12s — and gifted them to Utah Jazz ball boy Preston Truman, who made sure to always have his preferred after-game snack of applesauce ready to go when the buzzer sounded. Accompanied by a LOA from Truman, complete with a photo showing MJ signing the shoes before he handed them over, they’ve also been photo-matched by MeiGray and Sports Investors Authentication, and are expected to challenge the record for most expensive shoes ever sold.
