Among the fans of the Shelby Cobra, there are whispers in dark rooms of the Super Snake — a twin-supercharged 427 Competition Coupe of which only two were made, one kept by the black-hatted Texan himself. The other was sold to and took its owner off a cliff in the San Francisco Bay area, destroying the car and killing the driver. That makes CSX 3015 the only one in existence, the ultimate expression of one of the most legendary cars of all time — and at the March 2021 Barrett-Jackson auction, it will go up for sale. Making somewhere in the neighborhood of 800 horsepower with a three-speed automatic transmission in a chassis that dates to the 1950s, the Cobra 427 Super Snake makes a good case for being display only, as actually driving it could be extremely hazardous to your health.
