- Ford has announced that customers will not begin to receive the 2021 Bronco two- and four-door SUV until summer 2021 because of coronavirus-related supplier issues.
- Orders will now open in mid-January instead of December 7.
- The 2021 Bronco starts at $29,995 for the base two-door model and $34,695 for the four-door.
UPDATE 12/31/20: News reports based on a leaked document this week said that Bronco production will begin on May 3. A Ford spokesperson confirmed to Car and Driver that the Bronco is scheduled to go into production in the spring without giving a specific start date.
UPDATE 12/9/20: Webasto, Ford’s supplier for the Bronco’s removable roof, is the reason for the delay, as reported by Automotive News, citing unnamed sources.
The 2021 Ford Bronco off-road-focused SUV’s arrival is being delayed a few months due to coronavirus-related supplier delays, Ford confirmed to Car and Driver this afternoon. It was originally scheduled for a spring 2021 launch, but now the two- and four-door models won’t arrive until the end of the summer, and the Sasquatch version with the manual transmission will be even later.
Ford did not disclose which suppliers are experiencing COVID-19-related issues. Orders were originally set to open on December 7 but are now delayed until mid-January. Customers can still configure a two- or four-door Bronco on Ford’s website configurator, however. Reservation holders have until March 19 to finalize their build and dealer selection, agree to a price, and place their order. Previously, the deadline had been January 31.
Broncos equipped with the Sasquatch package and manual transmission will now move to the 2022 model year. The off-road-focused Sasquatch package includes 35-inch tires, an electronic transfer case, front and rear locking axles, a 1.2-inch lift, larger fender flares (to fit the big tires), and heavy-duty Bilstein shock absorbers.
The delay does not affect the smaller, crossover-based Bronco Sport, which is arriving at dealerships now.
