1964 Shelby Cobra 289 Race Car

When Carroll Shelby and AC Cars conceived the idea of stuffing an American V8 in a British roadster, the idea was to win races. The result was the Cobra, and its success on the track has become legendary. This 1964 289 Cobra has quite the history, being delivered new with a HiPo 289 that was a mix of ’64 and ’65 components, built exclusively for the Cobra by Ford. The car has passed through several hands over the years before arriving in England in the mid-’00s, where it was rebuilt for racing. The original parts were stored, and new suspension pieces, an FIA historic-legal roll cage fitted, and a new Engine Data Analysis 289 V8 installed. The car has raced all over Europe and proven itself as a winner. The sale includes all original parts and a cache of spares, ensuring that this Cobra will remain race-ready for years to come.
