iPhone 13 Pro Max to Get Slightly Better Wide-Angle Lens Than iPhone 12 Pro Max
The iPhone 13 Pro Max will get a slightly better wide-angle lens than the one on the iPhone 12 Pro Max, according to a new report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, and iPhone 13 Pro are expected to use the same 7P f/1.6 lens as their iPhone 12 counterparts; however, the iPhone 13 Pro Max lens will purportedly have an aperture of f/1.5.
We expect Sunny Optical to successfully pass the quality verification of the 7P wide-angle lens order for iPhone 13. Because iPhone 13 mini, 13, and 13 Pro share the same f1.6 7P wide-angle lens (vs. 13 Pro Max’s f1.5 7P wide-angle lens), so Sunny Optical’s order is the most in-demand. We estimate that Sunny Optical will ship the 7P wide-angle lens of the iPhone 13 to LG Innotek as soon as May.
While changes to the wide-angle lens are minimal. Kuo believes that changes to the iPhone 13’s ultra-wide camera will be more significant. The iPhone 12 has a f/2.4 5P camera lens fixed focus but that could be upgraded to a f/1.8 6P lens with autofocus.
