Steve McQueen’s 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL Sedan, #Steve #McQueens #MercedesBenz #SEL #Sedan

Produced from 1968 to 1972, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 borrowed the M100 V8 from the company’s flagship 600 to create a powerful (for the time) luxury sports sedan. Among its fans was the late Steve McQueen, who happened to import this particular specimen in 1972 and who drove it until his death in 1980. It’s changed hands several times in the years since, but in 2012 was sent to Merc-specialists Kienle Automobiltechnik in Germany for an exhaustive, six-figure restoration that included both cosmetic and mechanical work. In great condition considering its age, it shows 81,000 miles on the odometer, sits on 14-inch Bundt alloy wheels, and is being auctioned off by a Bay Area dealer.
