On the August 23, 1971 issue of Sports Illustrated, Steve McQueen appeared on the cover riding his then-new Husqvarna 400 Cross. That motorcycle is coming up for auction at Mecum’s Houston auction beginning March 31st. After seeing Bengt Aberg’s performance on a Husqvarna in a southern California desert race, McQueen was sold and became a dedicated Husqvarna fan. The bike has had a restoration and regular maintenance over its life span and is in ready-to-ride condition — or as a piece of Hollywood and motorcycle history.
