References to Two New iMacs Found in macOS 11.3 Beta 5
References to two new iMacs have been found in fifth beta of macOS Big Sur 11.3 seeded to developers today.
In January, Bloomberg reported that Apple is working on two new iMac models – codenamed J456 and J457 — to replace the existing 21.5-inch and 27-inch models. Those codenames have now been spotted in the new beta of macOS by 9to5Mac.
The latest beta version of macOS Big Sur comes with codes for two new iMacs, which are identified as “iMac21,1” and “iMac21,2” — it’s worth mentioning that these numbers are not related to display size.
This isn’t the first reference we’ve seen to a new iMac. Last week, an unreleased iMac likely using Apple Silicon was spotted in an Xcode crash log by DaftCloud developer Dennis Oberhoff.
We know that Apple is readying new iMacs that will replace Intel’s processors with Apple Silicon. Hopefully, these findings indicate an announcement is coming soon. Please download the iClarified app or follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and RSS for updates.
