Saab
Saab is divorced from GM, but that doesn’t mean the GM is exorcised from the new 9-5 sedan, which rides on the same platform as the Buick LaCrosse. The Saab gets a unique powertrain, though, with Aero XWD models using a turbocharged 2.8-liter V-6 that makes 300 horsepower. Because it’s a single-turbo setup, there is some lag (though not as bad as it is in the Cadillac SRX with this engine) but the all-wheel-drive system and GM’s Hi-Per strut front end snuff torque steer. The 9-5 Aero might not offer the polished performance of the similarly priced BMW 335i, but it is a step in the right direction for Saab.
