Not A Hotel Setouchi | Uncrate, #Hotel #Setouchi #Uncrate
As the name makes clear, Not A Hotel Setouchi is not a traditional hotel. Instead, it’s a three-villa development on the remote Sagishima Island in Japan that blends Scandinavian and Japanese design for a sustainability-focused, decidedly private stay. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, the villas are named by their views, each dictated by their placement on the island — higher up 360 gets full views, while 180 at the tip has panoramic views from side-to-side, and 270 lies somewhere in the middle. Each one is built of rammed earth as is customary for the area and offers Genshoseki natural slate floors, traditional Japanese baths, outdoor firepits, heated infinity pools, and solar tile-covered roofs.
