The Air Max 1000 is inspired by Tinker Hatfield’s 1987 Air Max 1, and while it shares a visible air unit, that’s about it. While the original was created using standard manufacturing methods, the Air Max 1000 is 3D printed using zellerFOAM, a specially-made TPU material that’s 100% recyclable, breathable, washable, and odor resistant. The resulting shoe offers support when it’s needed, cushioning where it’s wanted, a laceless design, and sports wavy details that mimic the Air Max 1’s mudguard. The black colorway is a Zellerfeld exclusive while the Oat version will be available via Nike’s SNKRS app; both limited editions release on August 19th.
