New MacBook Pro May Not Ship Until Late 2021, Early 2022 [Report]
Apple’s rumored new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros may not ship until late 2021 and early 2022, according to a new report from DigiTimes.
Apple plans to release two miniLED-backlit MacBook Pro products – a 14-inch and a 16-inch – in the second half of 2021, noted the sources. Judging from the supply of miniLED backlighting applications, volume production of the 14-inch MacBook Pro is likely to begin in the fourth quarter of 2021, and the 16-inch model will start in the first quarter of 2022, said the sources.
Additionally, the site notes that Osram Opto will become a new supplier of miniLED for backlighting the MacBook Pro lineup.
We’ve seen several claims that Apple will unveil the new MacBook Pro at WWDC next week; however, it’s unclear if this will happen. There are 4-6 week lead times on the new mini-LED iPad Pro and supply constraints could hold back the availability of a new mini-LED MacBook Pro as well.
