The name Pininfarina brings to mind sleek, Italian sports cars carving through the European countryside or the Continent’s most prestigious racing events — not heavy machinery trundling through rows of grapes. In a collaboration with New Holland, Pininfarina has helped design the Straddle Concept, a specialty tractor for tending vineyards. Tall and narrow, the Straddle Concept is shaped for moving between the tight rows and rolling hillsides of vineyards in France and Italy. Taking inspiration from its line of work, the front profile of the Straddle Concept resembles the champagne flute, which also helps it navigate the four-foot-wide rows of grapes. All four wheels can vary their track and height, making it a fit-all solution no matter the layout. While a concept, elements of this concept could see their way into New Holland’s future tractors.
