Marcello Gandini Sports Car Auction
Marcello Gandini’s hand is responsible for some of the most iconic car designs of all time, from the timeless Lamborghini Miura, Countach, and Diablo to the Renault 5. Coming up for auction are three of Gandini’s best works of the 1970’s — a 1972 Lamborghini Jarama, 1972 Alfa Romeo Montreal, and topping the list, a 1975 Lancia Stratos HF Stradale. The Jarama is the last front-engine GT ever built by Lamborghini, with only 177 produced. Alfa Romeo’s Montreal was powered by a 2.6-liter V8, and Gandini cues like the C-pillar strakes and NACA duct on the hood would be seen in later designs. 492 homologated units of the legendary Lancia Stratos were made, with the Stratos going on to dominate rally racing up through the late ’70s. All three will cross the block at Stratas Auctions online event on September 8th.
