Lotus Emira Coupe | Uncrate

The end of the combustion era for Lotus is coming with the new Emira, the last petrol-powered car the company will produce. While squaring heavyweight batteries and complex software controls with founder Colin Chapman’s ethos of “simplify, then add lightness” is not an easy task, Lotus has a long history of innovation — one that continues with the Emira. The car features an all-new bonded aluminum chassis wrapped in sculpted aerodynamic bodywork that is a continuation of the Elise, Exige, and Evora. Launch cars will have the 3.5-liter V6 from the Exige and Evora, with an AMG-supplied turbocharged four coming later. Lotus claims a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 180 MPH when the Emira begins deliveries in Spring 2022.
