The February 18, 2002 cover of Sports Illustrated anointed a high school junior basketball player “The Chosen One”. While this could have gone down in infamy, it instead launched LeBron James into the national conscience. This St. Vincent-St. Mary Irish jersey was worn by James during that photo shoot and later that day during his game against the Archbishop Hoban Knights (James scored 32 points and grabbed seven rebounds). A rare piece of sports and pop culture history, the jersey is accompanied by Letters of Authenticity and Photo Matching from The MeiGray Group and Resolution Photomatching, as well as a copy of the aforementioned issue of SI.
