Last Minute Rumors Claim New MacBook Pro Display Will Have a Notch
A few last minute rumors have surfaced claiming that the next generation MacBook Pro display will feature a notch. Apple is widely expected to unveil the new notebook at a special ‘Unleashed‘ event on Monday.
An alleged photo of a “suspected test machine” was shared on Weibo today. The photo reveals the purported notch and greatly reduced bezels.
On reddit, one observant user notes that when subtracting 74 pixels from the leaked MacBook Pro screen resolutions it results in a perfect 16:10 aspect ratio.
“Recall the screen resolution leaks, which came directly from Apple’s macOS beta files: 3456 by 2234 and 3024 by 1964. Subtract 74 from the height of both of them, and you get a perfect 16:10 display just like all the MacBooks on shelf right now. That 74 is probably the height of the notch in terms of pixels. “
Other predictions on Weibo include a 1000nit mini-LED display, 120Hz refresh rate support, no TouchBar, Touch ID with backlight, no Face ID, black keyboard area, and more.

Liu Hai, miniLED 1000nits 120Hz screen, remove the TouchBar, keep TouchID, full-height FN column, no FaceID (1080p camera, TrueTone ambient light sensor, Studio Mic), black keyboard area, heavier body, CNC technology, bottom with MacBook Pro Lettering.
The 14-inch battery increases by 20%, the 16-inch battery is not a big deal, 100Wh.
HDMI, SD return, new MagSafe, 3 x Thunderbolt, 3.5mm headphone jack.
The only suspense is the performance of Apple Silicon.
