Hyundai’s latest hydrogen fuel cell concept was introduced at its Clearly Committed event at Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang. Dubbed Initium, the name symbolizes “beginning” in Latin. Following recent Hyundai designs like the new Santa Fe, the Initium uses Hyundai’s fresh “Art of Steel” design language for a modern, rugged aesthetic in a crossover form factor. Hyundai expects a 400-mile range figure from the hydrogen fuel cell drivetrain, with an output of 150kW from its electric motors. The Initium has tech features like a fuel cell travel planner that routes around available refilling stations, reclining rear seats, and a Vehicle-to-Load function that can power household devices. The Initium will make its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
