After purchasing in 2018, Michael Balzary, better known as Flea, is putting his hilltop compound back on the market. The six-acre property sits in the hills above Los Angeles and features an original Richard Neutra design. Built for his secretary in 1953, the mid-century home is filled with the legendary architect’s signature details, including floor-to-ceiling windows, custom built-ins, and a bear valley stone fireplace. The property also includes a geometric dwelling designed by architect Michael Maltzan. The residence was built in 2008 and slightly cantilevers over the hillside, affording sweeping views of downtown and the mountains. The Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist also commissioned Maltzan to design an addition, while a redwood cabin built by artist Peter Staley, a 50-foot lap pool, and an outdoor movie pavilion complete the unique estate.
