Mazda generally offers a lot of car (or SUV) for the money. Many of its models look and feel a cut above their workaday competitors, with some even rivaling the executions of vehicles made by premium brands, such as Acura and Infiniti. As Mazda edges closer to the luxury segments that it envisions competing in someday, we wanted to gauge how far it had to go to realize that ambition. So we lined up a new Mazda 3 2.5 Turbo sedan against an established luxury benchmark, the Audi A4.
