Borrowing from the area’s vernacular architecture and coastal landscape, Walker Warner Architects has created a serene seaside getaway in Mexico. The Baja Beach House is located on the renowned peninsula where the desert meets the ocean. Its custom concrete walls are poured to mimic the color and texture of the surrounding sand and also provide protection against periodic storms and hurricanes. The boxy volumes are laid out to establish a central courtyard often seen in traditional Mexican architecture, expanding the interior to the outdoors. Interiors designed by Ken Fulk utilize weathered teak and antique bronze to replicate the home’s natural aesthetic, while bright furnishing and colorful tiles offer a contemporary contrast. Living spaces seamlessly flow to an oceanfront terrace where an infinity pool, outdoor kitchen, and a sand bar made from an old shipwreck take advantage of the Pacific views.
