Apple has updated iMovie with optimizations for its new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, as well as, support for Cinematic mode video.

With a streamlined design and intuitive editing features, iMovie lets you create Hollywood-style trailers and beautiful movies like never before. Browse your video library, share favorite moments, and create beautiful movies that you can edit at resolutions up to 4K. You can even start editing movies on an iPhone or iPad, and finish them on a Mac.

Cinematic Mode
• Edit videos recorded on iPhone 13 in Cinematic mode (requires macOS Monterey)
• Use the Cinematic control in the inspector to modify the intensity of the depth effect
• Choose to focus on faces or other objects by selecting them in the viewer
• View and delete focus points in the video timeline

Optimized for Apple silicon
• Improved performance and efficiency with optimizations for M1 Pro and M1 Max on the new MacBook Pro
