Alpine is previewing the future of its race and road cars with the Alpenglow Hy4 prototype. The Hy4 is a running prototype powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four making 340 horsepower — using hydrogen. The engine revs to 7,000 RPM, drawing fuel from three tanks, each carrying 4.6 pounds of hydrogen at over 10,000 psi. The numbers aren’t impressive for a race car, but Alpine has plans for a hydrogen V6 designed completely in-house, scheduled for a late 2024 debut.
