Honda built the Transalp, a light-duty mid-size dual-sport, for nearly 25 years before discontinuing it in 2012. 10 years later, the Transalp is back, this time as a 750cc parallel twin with legit off-road specs. The 755cc, four-valve Unicam parallel twin is shared with the just-released CB750 Hornet and makes the same 91 horsepower in the Transalp. The ride-by-wire throttle has five modes, controlling everything from throttle mapping to engine power, engine braking, and traction and wheelie control. Four modes are preset, with the fifth user-programmable. The frame is shared with the Hornet as well, but with geometry specifically tuned for off-road riding. The Showa fork and monoshock both have over seven inches of travel, combined with dual disc front brakes and a single disc rear. Looking every inch an adventure bike, the Transalp is expected to hit dealers sometime next year.
