Milton Greene first met Marilyn Monroe in 1953 on a shoot for Look. The two soon formed a friendship that would see Monroe stay with Greene and his family while in New York City, and eventually partner with the photographer to produce the films Bus Stop and The Prince and the Showgirl. This rare original black and white photograph is from the promotional shoot for the former film, taken on August 30, 1956, and shows Monroe posing provocatively in the green one-piece outfit she would wear on screen. Judging by the various stamps and writing on the back, this particular example was used by Brazilian newspapers, including Estado de Minas, as part of the film’s promotional push, giving it an even more interesting provenance.
