Chania Holiday House | Uncrate

Paly Architects burry a holiday house into the coast of Crete. The waterfront home uses the rocky terrain as protection from the northern winds, while concrete, local stone, and other natural materials harmonize with the surrounding landscape. Its interior is divided into two volumes — one with a living room, kitchen, and dining area and one with bedrooms — by a semi-outdoor living space wrapped in glazing. When the doors are open, the room expands to a covered terrace. From there, a wooden pergola runs perpendicular to the linear volume, extending across the pool and to a suspended platform overlooking the sea.
