Overview
Compared to Mini’s more petite models, the Countryman SUV looks downright plus-sized. While it’s the brand’s biggest model, it’s never been a segment leader when it comes to cargo space, and the next-generation Countryman, which is set to enter the market as a 2025 model-year vehicle, isn’t likely to adopt a more spacious design. Based on preliminary spy photos, the new Countryman looks like it stays true to Mini’s traditional styling cues. We also expect the 2025 Countryman will ride on the same platform as the BMW X1, which means it is likely to be powered by that SUV’s turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine. While the X1 is offered only with a 241-hp version of that engine, the Countryman may be offered in various output levels to differentiate base, S, and JCW variants. Mini is also developing an EV model to sell alongside the gasoline-powered Countryman, but it’s not clear yet if the electric variant will make its way stateside.
What’s New for 2025?
The Mini Countryman will be fully redesigned for the 2025 model year. We expect the new Countryman will make its debut before the end of 2023 and go on sale in early 2024.

Mini hasn’t confirmed pricing or trim levels just yet, but we expect pricing will closely resemble that of the current model, starting around $34,000. While the base and S trims are both likely to stick around, the current plug-in hybrid S E model may get replaced by an all-electric variant. We also expect to see more standard safety tech than what the outgoing model offers, which doesn’t include driver-assistance features such as blind-spot monitoring or lane-keeping assist.
