Radical
From Ferrari to Lamborghini to McLaren, virtually every supercar manufacturer makes a hardcore track-oriented model. But the Radical SR10 is something different—a turnkey race car that can post lap times close to those of a Le Mans prototype and is eligible for entry in the company’s own racing series.

Radical is based in England, but around two-thirds of its annual production comes to the United States. The SR10 sits above the motorcycle-engined SR1, SR3, and SR8 models in the company’s lineup.

The SR10’s EcoBoost engine and six-speed sequential transmission can both run for more than 40 hours between mechanical refreshes, which is generous by race-car standards.

The EcoBoost four-banger gives the SR10 huge straight-line performance but doesn’t have much character beyond its capacity to produce both noise and violence.

Like many racing cars the SR10’s clutch pedal is only used for starting and stopping. Once moving, shifting the sequential transmission is as simple as clicking one of the steering-wheel-mounted paddles.

Radical says the SR10 is at least as quick as a GT3-spec racer around most circuits and can produce more than 2.0 g’s of lateral acceleration on its slick tires.
