The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB, as its name suggests, is a battery-electric version of the GLB-class subcompact crossover.

Whereas the Mercedes-Benz EQS and EQE are dedicated electric models, the EQB is adapted from its gas-engine counterpart, the GLB.

Compared to the GLB, the EQB gets its own specific front-end treatment that sees the grille replaced by a black plastic panel with and LED light bar above.

At the rear, the EQB gets another LED light bar, this one connecting the taillights.

Tweaked aero elements and wheel designs smooth airflow, giving the EQB a slightly better coefficient of drag than the GLB.

The EQB interior largely mirrors that of the GLB with twin display screens, although rose-gold interior accents are specific to the electric version.

Cargo space is reduced somewhat in the EQB compared to the GLB. A small third-row seat remains available, however.

The EQB will be offered as the single-motor EQB 300 4Matic and the dual-motor EQB 350 4Matic.

The EQB 300 makes 225 horsepower and 288 pound-feet of torque. The EQB 350 produces 288 horsepower and 384 pound-feet.
