Porsche takes the 911 into the new millennium with the 996, the first water-cooled 911. The new car shares its front end with the Boxster but offers far more power—296 hp—along with lighter weight compared to its 993 predecessor. It’s also more stable, tuned for understeer rather than the tail-out antics that defined earlier 911s.
