The redesigned 2021 Toyota Sienna switches to a standard hybrid powertrain and offers all-wheel drive. We ordered a Sienna AWD Limited for a 40,000-mile test.

The 2021 Sienna’s new styling is more expressive than before, although you might not call it beautiful.

All Siennas are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid. All-wheel drive is an option on all trim levels.

Ours is a Sienna Limited, which comes with second-row captain’s chairs and seats seven. An eight-passenger configuration is also available.

We added a rear-seat entertainment system for $1415.

Our Sienna Limited is also optioned with a rearview camera mirror, an AC power inverter, a mini spare tire, and all-weather floor mats, for an out-the-door total of $51,885.

The front seats are bisected by a two-tiered center console that provides lots of storage.

The 9.0-inch touchscreen includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Wi-Fi capability.

With the optional all-wheel drive, we’re averaging 32 mpg so far.

Although there’s some droning under acceleration, the Sienna is a quiet cruiser.

Our initial 0-to-60 time came in at a not-bad 7.6 seconds, although that’s quite a bit slower than the Honda Odyssey and slower than the previous V-6-powered Sienna as well.
