Tom Cruise’s 1984 Nissan 300ZX Race Car

Fresh off the massive success of Top Gun in 1986, Tom Cruise took up racing. The actor’s interest in racing cars peaked when acting legend Paul Newman took Cruise for a ride around Lime Rock, and the following year Cruise passed his SCCA test and took to the track with Newman and partner Bob Sharp’s racing team. Up for auction is the car Cruise drive in his racing debut, this 1964 Nissan 300ZX. The car has been restored after spending several years sitting in a junkyard, and now wears the livery used by the Newman-Sharp race team. Fitted with a roll cage and built with period-correct engine and suspension upgrades, the car is a unique piece of racing and Hollywood history.
