Brabus is celebrating 45 years as one of Germany’s best custom houses with the Crawler, a Mercedes G-Wagen pared to the bare essentials and packing nearly 900 horsepower. Brabus starts the conversion with a high-strength steel tube frame and integrated roll structure, replacing most of the original body panels with carbon fiber replacements. Under the hood is Brabus’ 4.5-liter overbored, twin-turbo V8 making 888 horsepower and an electronically-limited 774 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-62 time of 3.4 seconds. Forged Brabus wheels, off-road tires, and Brabus suspension with 6.3 inches of travel make the Crawler ready for any terrain — which is good because the buggy isn’t street legal. Brabus will make five units each year for the next three years, with a total production run of 15.
