The Honda SS50 redefined the moped from a kids-only transportation medium to a stylish ride that left nothing to full-size motorcycles except engine displacement. Torkel Doehmers used the SS50 as the inspiration for the Moppe Apparatus TD-MP1, an electric moped concept that prioritizes style. The TD-MP1 recalls classic cafe racers in addition to the SS50, with low-mount grips, orange-tinted fairing, and skateboard seat with ducktail flip. A telescoping fork, dual rear shocks, and hydraulic brakes would give the TD-MP1 modern performance, along with a hub-mounted electric motor. Doehmers dropped a built-in display for an iPone dock, giving data readouts for the bike via an app. While the TD-MP1 is currently a concept, its design elements would make for high-style urban mobility.
