Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed Concept | Uncrate

Mercedes launched its bespoke Mythos series ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix with the PureSpeed concept. The PureSpeed takes the SL convertible and removes the roof, windshield, and side windows, adding an F1-style halo bar in their place. Headlights and taillights are carried over the SL, with flying buttresses behind the passengers that Mercedes says are inspired by the winning 1955 300 SLR driven by Sterling Moss at the Mille Miglia. Aerodynamic bits and carbon fiber wheel covers accent the red-to-black gradient paint, a callback to the red cars Mercedes ran at the 1924 Targa Florio race in Sicily. Mercedes didn’t offer powertrain or performance numbers, but the most likely two options are the 577 horsepower twin-turbo V8 from the SL63 or the 805 horsepower hybrid unit from the SL63 E Performance. The PureSpeed is limited to 250 units worldwide.
