The Pikes Peak International Hillclimb has produced some of the wildest race cars ever built, from the twin-motor Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak to Bentley’s more recent record-breaking — on the now fully paved course — Continental GTs. Ford is heading to the 2024 Pikes Peak International Hillclimb with something nearly as outrageous as the Escudo — the E-Transit SuperVan 4.2. Powered by three electric motors, the heavily-modified E-Transit makes a total of 1,400 horsepower, sent to the ground via all four wheels. Little remains of the actual E-Transit, outside of the somewhat recognizable bodywork festooned with spoilers. While it’s definitely a Supervan, it’s not the first, or the craziest. That goes to the 1995 Renault Espace F1, powered by a Renault V10 that took Alain Prost to the F1 Driver’s Championship in the William’s FW15C.
