Facebook is prompting iOS users to allow ad tracking on Facebook and Instagram to help keep both ‘free of charge’.

We use information about your activity received from other apps and websites to:

● Show you ads that are more personalized
● Help keep Facebook free of charge
● Support businesses that rely on ads to reach their customers

Apple introduced App Tracking Transparency with the release of iOS 14.5. It requires apps to get a user’s permission before tracking their data across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising, or sharing their data with data brokers.

The privacy feature is expected to have a significant effect on companies and sites that rely on advertising revenue.
