Celestiq to Be Cadillac’s EV Flagship with Four-Wheel Steering

  • Cadillac has teased its upcoming Celestiq electric flagship four-seat hatchback.
  • It’ll have all-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, and transparent glass roof panels.
  • Expect a 300-plus-mile driving range, a six-figure price, and an arrival date by 2025.

Cadillac will soon reveal a flagship electric sedan called the Celestiq to go up against the Tesla Model S and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQS and electric BMW 7-series, and it should command a six-figure price. The Celestiq is one of GM’s 30 electric vehicles promised by 2025, and it’ll be built on the GM Ultium battery platform.

The Celestiq will be a four-seat hatchback with all-wheel drive and four-wheel steering. It will have a claimed 300-plus-mile range from its approximately 100.0-kWh battery pack, which will be shared with the Lyriq SUV. To compare, the Tesla Model S Long Range Plus currently has an EPA-rated 402 miles of range. The Celestiq’s grille looks similar to the Lyriq’s with thin light strips and a lit-up Cadillac badge, and it has long, low proportions and sits on 23-inch wheels.

Like the Lyriq SUV, which will be Cadillac’s first electric vehicle, the Celestiq will have a massive LED display that stretches across the entire dashboard. Each rear passenger will have their own entertainment display as well. The Celestiq has a four-panel “smart glass” roof that can have different levels of transparency selected by each passenger. GM’s Super Cruise self-driving technology will also be available.

The Celestiq you see here is still a show car, although we expect Cadillac to share more information on the production version and the Lyriq SUV by the end of the year. They should arrive by 2025, with the Celestiq starting in the $100,000 range.
