1966 Porsche Carrera Six Race Car

Otherwise known as the Porsche 906, the Carrera Six is one of the most beloved of the brand’s race cars. This particular example was delivered new on March 23, 1966 to Japanese driver Shintaro Taki. Over the years, it was piloted by several notable drivers, including Kenjiro Tanaka, Mashiro Hasemi, and Peter Bellamy, earning wins at both the 1967 and 1969 Suzuka 1,000 Kilometers and 1968 Suzuka 500 Kilometers events. In the early 1990s Porsche itself was commissioned to perform a complete restoration, during which it was revealed that the original 2-liter engine had at some point been enlarged to 2.5-liters, a change which the factory recommended leaving in place. As a highly highly-original, matching numbers example, it would make for an excellent addition to the collection of any Porsche lover or racing enthusiast.
