Apple CEO Tim Cook slipped to the 8th highest paid U.S. executive in 2020, according to a new report from Bloomberg.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk once again topped the list with an incredible $6,658,803,818 in option awards.

On paper, Musk’s grant struck some as ludicrous both in size and ambition. Could a board really defend paying just one employee tens of billions of dollars, even if the company’s market value rose by more than tenfold? Most investors thought so. More than two-thirds of them backed the pay package in a non-binding referendum. If it works, some of them reasoned, we’ll reap huge returns. What does it matter, then, if Musk gets his billions?

Following Musk is Mike Pykosz, CEO of Oak Street Health, with $568,442,024 in compensation. Coming next on the list is Trevor Bezdek (Co-CEO GoodRx Holdings), Douglas Hirsch (Co-CEO GoodRx Holdings), Eric Wu (CEO Opendoor Technologies), Alex Karp (CEO Palantir Technologies), and Geoffrey Price (COO Oak Street Health).

In eighth position is Tim Cook with a total compensation of $265,043,550. That’s broken down into $3.0M Salary, $10.7M Bonus, $250.3M Stock Awards, and $1.0M Perks.
