1955 Ferrari 250 Europa GT Alloy Competizione

Designed to give Ferrari’s racing-derived road cars a veneer of civility, the 250 Europa GT debuted at the 1954 Paris Motor Show. 43 examples of the Pininfarina-penned Europa GT would leave Maranello between 1954 and 1955, with just two being bodied in aluminum — one of which is pictured here. Chassis no. 0387 GT is the 16th of those 43, ordered by Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands and specified with the competition engine. Prince Bernhard also requested that the chassis be renumbered to 0139 E, which was the number used by the Prince’s 951 212 Inter Coupe Vignale. Ferrari obliged but left the factory number visible. Currently being offered for sale by Shaltkulisse, the car has extensive historical documentation, including correspondence from the factory and period photographs.
