Overview
Kia’s EV5 concept is our first glimpse at what a future electric compact SUV could look like wearing the larger EV9 crossover’s boxy wardrobe. Although Kia has only confirmed that the EV5 will be sold in China so far, we’re certain that the SUV will find its way to the U.S. as well. Given its name, we believe it will slot below the EV6 in terms of pricing and overall dimensions. We expect the production model to use the same underpinnings as Kia’s other new EV models, including the company’s fast charging, 800-volt electrical architecture. Single and dual-motor version are likely to be offered, and Kia could also provide buyers’ the option for standard and long-range battery packs.
What’s New for 2025?
If it enters the U.S. market, the EV5 will be an all-new model for Kia, slotting below the mid-size EV6 alongside the gasoline-powered Seltos crossover.
