The 2021 Honda Ridgeline tries to appropriate the body-on-frame truck aesthetic with a bluff front end and an HPD package meant to evoke off-road glory. But it’s still a truck that appeals to pragmatists who appreciate that it’s optimized for daily life rather than hypothetical extreme off-road challenges.

The HPD package consists of bronze-colored wheels, black fender flares, a new grille, and graphics. In other words, it’s an appearance package. It looks good, but $2800 is a lot when you don’t get any suspension or powertrain hardware.

The interior gets an important innovation: a volume knob for the sound system.

As before, you can opt for an exterior sound system that turns the composite bed into a giant speaker.
