Two-time Formula One Champion Mika Hakkinen and fellow Finns Verge motorcycles have collaborated on a special-edition motorcycle with Verge’s trademark design and performance. The electric bike uses a massive 240-section rear tire wrapped around a hubless motor and swingarm, giving it a striking look unlike anything else on the road. The bike comes in a black and silver paint scheme that recalls the McLarens Hakkinen drove to the World Championship, cloaking a battery that delivers power to the 136 horsepower motor. The battery allows for 350 miles of range — easily the most in a street-legal e-bike — and a top speed of 124 MPH. While not a flyweight sport bike, the Hakkinen edition weighs in at a very reasonable 540 pounds. Handling is aided by a suite of electronic aids and Ohlins suspension, with Brembo providing the brakes. The bike is limited to 100 units, with US availability expected in late 2023.
