The first and only Cobra prototype was serial number CSX2000, with CSX standing for Carroll Shelby Experimental. The car was built by AC Cars in England and then shipped to the US, where it was fitted with one of the first Ford 260ci V8 engines. The rest is history — one of the most iconic cars of all time was born. Shelby Legendary Cars is building 10 exacting recreations of CSX2000, with official Shelby serial numbers CSX2000-CSX2009. Each recreation is built true to the original — no updated chassis design or carbon fiber bodywork. The cars are sold as rollers, configured to take a Ford small block V8 and Borg Waner T10 transmission, installed by the customer or shop of their choice. Orders for one of the 10 recreations are open now.
