Between 1937 and 1939, Captain George Eyston and fellow Enghlishman John Cobb battled for the landspeed world record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Eyston breifly held the record at aver 350 MPH in the Thunderbolt, an aerodynamic powerhouse using two Rolls-Royce R V12 aero engines, designed specifically for air racing. Rolls-Royce is celebrating the pioneering feat with the Landspeed Collection, comprised of 35 examples of Wraith Black Badge and 25 of Dawn Black Badge automobiles. Both cars have a Starlight Headliner with the exact position of the stars on the night of Eyston’s record-breaking run, along with engraved silhouettes of the Thunderbolt and a clock inspired by the car’s instruments.
