10 years after its introduction, Porsche’s Macan compact SUV is getting a fully electric model. Not just a powertrain swap, the Macan EV is the first product built on the Premium Electric Platform and represents an all-new development, with the prototype currently undergoing the rigorous testing Porsche is known for. Much of that testing, like all modern cars, focuses on balancing design with aerodynamics to squeeze as much range as possible from the battery. Porsche managed to blend the Taycan’s lines with the Macan’s SUV profile, giving the crossover a distinct Porsche look. Testing in both virtual and real-world climes like the extreme heat of Death Valley and and arctic cold of Scandinavia have all led up to the release of the electric Macan later in January.
