Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini all came from the same stretch of northern Italy known as Motor Valley, where machine engineering was elevated to an art form. A new independent watch brand from the same terrain applies the same spirit to the wrist with the Desder D001. The 46mm case is a 24.8mm-thick teardrop in Grade 5 titanium and stainless steel, its silhouette drawn from the coachbuilt road cars of the 1920s through 1960s. Its architecture is tailored to the movement within, not forcing the movement to fit within a pre-existing shell. Inside, the in-house DSD_01 caliber by master watchmaker Luca Soprana runs at 3Hz across 63 jewels with a 45-hour power reserve. At its center, a triple-axis tourbillon flanks a driver’s-style display of jumping hours, sweeping seconds, a GMT function, and a power reserve indicator. Multiple sapphire crystals expose the movement from several angles, with a brown lizard leather strap completing the package. Six examples only, each unique.
